I am a wife and a mother of three beautiful children. I have had three very different birth experiences, and this is where my passion for birth stems from. My first two children were born by cesarean section, and my third was a successful vaginal birth after 2 c-sections (VBA2C). I truly believe that giving birth is an experience that every mother should be able to have and enjoy. My goal as a birth doula is to educate and support women in their choices regarding childbirth, no matter how they plan on doing it. I want to help women have fulfiling birth experiences, that are special and unique to them.
I have been trained and certified as a birth doula through DONA International. I am a member of the Calgary Doula Association, DONA (Doulas of North America) International http://www.dona.org/, and CAPPA Canada (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association) http://www.cappacanada.ca/.. I have previously worked as a nursing assistant and have completed two years of studies at Mount Royal College.
I began my journey as a doula in the summer of 2008, and became certified in April 2009. I have had experience in many different births, including VBAC's, cesarean sections and a vaginal breech delivery. To continue my education, I am now certified as a CAPPA childbirth educator, and I have taken the Hypnobirthing course.
